CLEVELAND – Francisco Lindor once sat in his closet and listed his favorite major leagues to watch. One of the first names he gave was Eddie Rosario.
The two grew up an hour away in Puerto Rico and have clashed regularly over the past six years. Lindor was the heartbeat of the Indians. Rosario was breaking the hearts of the Indians.
Three weeks after Cleveland awarded Lindor to the Mets, they signed Rosario for a $ 8 million one-year deal, several sources told The Athletic.
Earlier on Friday, the club formalized its meeting with second baseman César Hernández. A source said the contract is worth $ 5 million for 2021, with a $ 6 million club option for 2022.
