Where can you get Johnson & Johnson vaccine in Illinois? – NBC Chicago

Health officials expect an increase in COVID vaccine with a single Johnson & Johnson injection in Illinois in the coming days, but where can you find it?

Although the state has not specified where the dose influx will be specifically administered, there are already several locations that offer the option to receive the vaccine.

Jewel-Osco, for example, offers customers the option to choose which vaccine they would like to book an appointment with when they become available.

On the food chain vaccine planner, customers can select whether they want to check appointments with Pfizer or Moderna two-shot vaccines or Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

“Osco Drug Pharmacy offers customers a range of vaccines based on the allocation they receive,” a company spokesman told NBC 5. “We are adding appointments for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine as the offer becomes available.”

Meanwhile, Illinois announced Friday that it is sending “rapid response vaccination teams” to five counties where epidemiologists “have determined that doses need to be given quickly to block growing trends,” IDPH said. These teams will administer Johnson & Johnson vaccinations in one fell swoop to residents in addition to what counties are already allocated.

These counties are: Carroll, Ogle, Boone, Lee and Whiteside. Details on dosages and how to make an appointment can be found here.

Residents can also watch vaccination events or mass vaccination sites across the state.

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker received his COVID-19 vaccine Wednesday at the Illinois State Fairground, where he said he was hit by Johnson & Johnson.

Earlier this month, Aurora hosted a one-day mass vaccination clinic in partnership with Walgreens, where participants received the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, and Des Plaines launched a mass vaccination site that initially administered the vaccine with a single vaccine.

According to Pritzker, Johnson & Johnson vaccine doses are expected to rise sharply in the coming days.

“We expect to see a significant number, with millions of doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine set to begin very soon in the next few days,” the governor said at an unrelated news conference on Friday. “And then, hopefully, a sustained increase in Johnson & Johnson, and we will continue to see an increase in Pfizer and Moderna.”
