The secretariat of Transparency Maria Andrea Matamoros, describes in recent hours the issues addressed by the Honduran delegation that traveled to Washington to conduct bilateral dialogues with the US government.

The official explained that in terms of transparency issues, there were extensive reports on progress in institution-building. Matamoros emphasized that through this secretariat, Honduras has closed and opened several institutions with a view to modernization, transparency and the eradication of corruption in public administration.

In November 2020 Juan Orlando Hernandez, President of Honduras, swore in Matamoros as head of this state entity. “I’ve always said, the president of the republic knows what’s good for Honduras, good for the United States. What’s good for the United States is good for Honduras,” he added.

Secretary of State Lisandro Rosales stressed that Honduras, through Juan Orlando Hernández, remains a strategic partner of the United States, despite allegations against it.

“From the outset, the Juan Orlando Hernández administration worked with then President Barack Obama and Vice President Biden, now with Biden as president we will continue to work hand in hand,” he explains.

Finally, Matamoros announced that Juan Orlando Hernández and Joe Biden, the current US president, had previously met during the Obama administration, in which Biden served as vice president, although the first meeting between him and the Honduran president could soon take place. .
