Watch this 1967 Ford GT40 Mark III race from its younger competition

When was the last time you had the pleasure of watching a 1967 Ford GT40 Mark III took over a 2005 Ford GT in the treadmill? I will be waiting.

If your answer was “never”, as it probably was, then you are about to receive a sweet surprise this Saturday afternoon.

The Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California hosted a long day of competition at Santa Margarita Ranch runway – where, apparently, it was close everything could goes wrong made goes wrong. But that doesn’t mean that the museum failed to hold a spectacular show with the cars that made get her out. Oh no.

As the museum mentions, only seven The Ford GT40 Mark IIIs was built as a whole, and the model in the video is one of four built with a left-hand drive. And to do so even less often is the fact that it is legal on the street. But he also inspired the 2005 Ford GT40, which appears in this video, courtesy of Doug DeMuro. Not every day you will see the original model go hand in hand with the car that inspired it decades later.

Now, let’s talk about some of the different specifications.

  • 1967: ZF 5-speed manual transmission
  • 2005: 6-speed manual transmission

Now, with all of this in mind, let’s check out the video. I go through history, so if you want to get straight to the goods, the drag races start at 4:30.

I won’t spoil the results for you, but I can guarantee it will be at least one little surprising. And that you will have fun. The GT40’s release note is absolutely beautiful; Honestly, I can’t get enough.
