Katy Perry called “American Idol” hopefully Casey Bishop “very, very good” in Sunday’s episode. Fellow Judge Luke Bryan went even further.
“I think she’s the damn American Idol winner,” he said. (Watch the video below.)
Bishop, 15, of Estero, Florida, said he “really had no performance experience” before his audition – although he appears to be attending a performing arts school.
Her talent was undeniable, as she eliminated an a cappella version of Motley Crue’s “Live Wire” and a Sarah Vaughan-inspired performance in “My Funny Valentine.”
Bishop sang the second song after Perry asked him to highlight the soul part of his voice – and demonstrated it to the clinker in Bryan’s predictions.
Bryan compared the impression he made with the 2019 attempt by musician Alejandro Aranda, after which Perry predicted that he would win. Aranda continued to take second place.
The next Bishop will be Hollywood Week. Good luck, baby.
