Foo Fighters performed the song “Times Like These” during a special series “Celebrating America” in honor of the inauguration of Joe Biden as 46 President of the United States. Prior to the show, Grohl gave a quick speech about teachers, including Dr. Jill Biden and her mother, Virginia Grohl. It’s a show that starts quietly, but resumes. Watch as it happens below.
“This year our teachers have faced unprecedented challenges, but through dedication and creativity, they have faced these challenges directly,” said Grohl. “So the next song is for Mackenzie [Adams] and all our unshakable teachers who enlighten the children of our nation every day ”.
Other performers during the Opening Day festivities included Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, John Legend, Katy Perry, New Radicals and others.
Foo Fighters has released three songs since announcing their next LP Medicine at midnight. They released “No Son of Mine” and “Waiting on a War” earlier this month, and “Shame Shame” debuted on SNL in November. The album will be released on February 5.
Tonight’s inaugural event, Celebrating America, also featured performances by Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake and Ant Clemons, John Legend and more. Katy Perry closed the evening with her hit “Firework”.
