Washington and William Jackson agree to a 3-year, $ 42 million deal

William Jackson, a former corner of the Cincinnati Bengals, has reached an agreement with the Washington football team over a three-year, $ 42 million deal, a source told Adam Schefter of ESPN on Tuesday.

Jackson, 28, entered 2020 with much to prove after the Bengals chose the option for the fifth year and responded by supporting a new lucrative deal with a recovery season.

The first-round pick in 2016 had 11 turnovers, eight more than his 2019 total, and had a completion rate of 57.9% when he was the closest defender, according to NFL Statistics Next Gen. When Jackson lined up against outside receivers, his numbers were even stronger. As the closest defender in these situations, his allowed completion rate dropped to 56.1%.

Jackson had his burst season in 2017, when he allowed 10 catches on 41 goals for no touchdowns, an interception and 13 passing deflections when he was the closest defender against outside receivers, according to NFL Statistics Next Gen.

He missed the entire rookie season with a broken pectoral muscle after being selected with the 24th general election. In the four seasons of action since then, Jackson has had 150 approaches, three interceptions, a sack, 41 passes defended and a defensive touchdown.

ESPN’s Ben Baby contributed to this report.
