Warm Tuesday ends with light rain

Happy World Meteorological Day!

At that time, in 1950, the World Meteorological Organization was developed as a specialized agency within the United Nations. WMO is making a good world, such as efforts to reduce natural disasters through better warning systems, standardization of international weather observation equipment and observations, and, of course, climate change research.

A few years ago I had the privilege of visiting the WMO headquarters in Geneva and questioning the Secretary-General in his office, and it is amazing what WMO has accomplished over the last seven decades.

A little closer to home, although on Tuesday we will have more cloud cover than we saw in the last three days combined, we will still get at least partial sun sometimes, and the unusually warm air mass is still with us. As such, today’s highs will reach the middle until the upper 60s. However, we will have a southeast wind of 8 to 13 mph and, as you know, people in the east, the early spring breeze keeps you much cooler coming from the cold waters of the Great Lakes.

Tuesday evening will be mostly cloudy, with scattered scattered showers. The amount of rainfall will be light and will not put your foot in moderate drought and abnormally dry conditions facing much of southeast Michigan (Metro Airport has received only 0.03 inches of rain so far this month). The lows will be close to 50 degrees, which is our HIGH average this time of year! Southeast wind continues at 5-10 mph.

Scattered showers will end on Wednesday morning, with partly cloudy winds. A stray shower or storm can’t be completely ruled out north of the M-59 and west of I-75, but most of us should stay dry on Wednesday afternoon. The maximums will be almost 70 degrees.

It will be partly cloudy on Wednesday night, with lows in the 40s.

On Thursday it will be cloudy and it will rain until late in the afternoon. The highs will be in the 1960s.
