The granting of leniency by the rulers is under Article 4 of the Constitution of Puerto Rico. They may, by this power, suspend the execution of sentences in criminal cases, pardon, commute sentences and allow fines or confiscations in whole or in part for offenses committed in violation of the law.

Torres Feliciano will receive a conditional pardon, which implies that he must meet certain conditions upon release from prison.

The detainee is currently 28 years old and is in the Bayamón Correctional Complex. El Nuevo Día has learned that Torres Feliciano will be released next Monday, January 4.

On December 23, Governor and lawyer Julio Fontanet met in La Fortaleza to discuss the case. „Meeting with Lcdo. Julio Fontanet from the Innocence Project on several cases. Truth and justice have always been my north “, the president published on the social network Twitter.

The detainee is currently 28 years old and is in the Bayamón Correctional Complex. The request for clemency is the latest attempt by Torres Feliciano, who denied being co-author of the events, to get out of prison.

The events date back to February 21, 2009 when, in the middle of a family activity, her partner and her son’s father, Steven Quirindongo, beat her several times, as part of a pattern of violence. Her brothers, finding out what happened, confront the aggressor and generate the fight that caused the death of Ashley’s brother, Nelson Torres Feliciano.
