Walmart, Sam’s Pharmacy Club, which administers COVID-19 vaccines in Texas, including San Antonio

SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio Walmart pharmacy will begin administering COVID-19 vaccines starting Friday, according to a company statement.

Walmart, located at 5555 De Zavala Road, will be one of many locations across the country that will begin vaccinating residents through the US Federal Retail Pharmacy Program. In total, more than 1,000 Walmart and Sam’s Club pharmacies will start receiving vaccine allocations.

The vaccine will be given to eligible residents in levels 1A and 1B.

Those who are eligible to receive the vaccine can schedule an appointment through Walmart and Sam’s Club once the appointments are available, according to the press release.

“Ninety percent of the country lives less than ten miles from Walmart. We are committed to helping people live better – and healthier lives – in Texas, and we take that role very seriously, ”said Dr. Cheryl Pegus, executive vice president of health and welfare for Walmart. “We want to help the country reopen, but we can only achieve this by vaccinating COVID-19 on a large scale. We are proud to work with the federal government, states, communities, customers and associations to expand access to the vaccine and achieve this goal. ”
