WallStreetBets and the GameStop saga could come to a theater near you

This was a safe bet …

Hollywood already has its vision on last week’s GameStop commercial frenzy.

MGM recently acquired the rights to a book proposal on the WallStreetBets Reddit forum tentatively titled “The Antisocial Network,” Deadline reported on Sunday.

The planned volume, by Ben Mezrich, will explore how the group of rogue traders shook Wall Street by increasing shares in GameStop GME,
+ 67.87%
and other companies that defy large hedge funds.

While the saga is still very recent, Deadline reported that Mezrich launched the proposal on the market by the end of last week, and MGM quickly took it over after a competitive bidding war.

Mezrich is the author of “The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding Of Facebook, a Tale Of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal”, which was adapted in 2010, “The Social Network”, winner of the Oscar.
