There is a new addition to the full range of Volkswagen IDs. Meet the VW ID.6, the brand’s answer to full size Electric SUV. And, although the brand has not completely ruled out bringing the United States, it will remain for the time being an exclusive model from China.

There will be two different models: ID.6 X and ID.6 Crozz. It was previewed in 2019 as the Roomzz concept (please, there are no more unnecessary ‘z’s’), but there have been some changes since then. The joint partnership of VW with FAW will produce Crozz, while the other joint venture with SAIC will deal with X. Both have the same mechanical properties, the big changes being smaller aesthetic details.

ID.6 is, says VW, designed specifically for Chinese consumers, with comfort and accessibility at the top of the list of priorities. Unlike the smaller ID, it is designed to accommodate seats six to seven passengers, depending on the model. And it’s based on VW Modular electrification tool set Kit (MEB), which is essentially a single EV base designed to be used for tons of different cars. This makes it much easier to bring new cars to market; the less confused it is with different technologies, the better.
