On Saturday, Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 and took the lead in the league, waiting for what happens to Atlético de Madrid. Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos were the protagonists of the Merengue team which, with 66 points and a good goal difference, is delighted to fight for the title.
The crowd roared in delight as Alfredo Di Stefano finished off a spectacular series of passes through the middle to even the score for Zinedine Zidane 13 minutes into the match. Some great play up the middle by Lucas Vazquez led to a chance for Karim Benzema to score after Ronald Araújo, but the shot went wide. Great!
With 27 minutes played, a phenomenal play on the left side freed Toni Kroos, of culé, to dash through and score another goal for the visitors. The German shot made it 2-0 on the scoreboard.
In the second half, Barcelona came out with a better face and a goal by Óscar Mingueza, in the 60th minute, was close to equalizing. The Barça team attacked the area and with the right foot sent the ball to the bottom of the net.
