There was a time when Sega made a significant effort to keep its old titles, which would allow new fans to experience games even if they are taught by them. Advance to the present day, and the company seems only interested in the relaunch of Sonic 1 & 2 on every conceivable platform (not, however, the port with a wide cold screen).
We’ve gone through several generations of consoles without proper storage for this franchise, and some titles, such as Sonic Pocket Adventure, by Neo Geo Pocket Color, have never received a relaunch of any kind. That’s what we want to look at today – Sonic titles that are at least 15 years old and are locked on their original hardware.
Nor do we highlight any old games, they must either be legitimately fantastic, a key part of the franchise’s history, or have the potential to be improved with modern hardware. (Sorry Sonhouse’s Schoolhouse, maybe next time)
Have you played any of the games featured in this video and are there any others you would like to see relaunched?
