Veteran receiver DeSean Jackson released by the Philadelphia Eagles

PHILADELPHIA – DeSean Jackson receiver has been released by the Philadelphia Eagles, the team announced on Friday.

“I look forward to my next chapter” Jackson posted on Instagram Story before the announcement is made official. “Philadelphia is always Love. Appreciate everything.”

The Eagles acquired Jackson, 34, from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019, reuniting the receiver with deep threats with the team that recruited him in 2008.

Jackson fueled the excitement with a pair of more than 50 touchdowns in the 2019 opening against the Washington football team, but injuries have limited his overall impact over the past two seasons. He played in just three games in ’19 due to a basic muscle injury and missed 11 games last season with an injured ankle.

With Jackson’s release, the Eagles are expected to get a $ 6 million exemption. Philadelphia is currently estimated to be about $ 50 million above the 2021 salary cap and will continue to cut its salary before the league starts in March.

Jackson has recorded the most touchdowns over 60 yards (24) in NFL history and ranks sixth in the yard on reception (17.4).
