Valve has just released its Steam Survey numbers for December 2020 and it is a huge disappointment for Linux gamers if the numbers are really correct.
According to numbers published by Valve, the Linux market share on Steam was only 0.57%, or a decrease of 0.33% compared to the previous month. Figures for December 2020 show that Windows gained just over 1.6%, while macOS lost market share from 1.31% to 2.14%. These numbers are a huge upset for both Linux and MacOS games.
These numbers may be a little off, as we have seen many times in the past, where Valve later revises its numbers based on various explanations. But it is also possible that there is indeed a huge increase in Windows players during the holidays and in the various sales of games, etc. There are also some who continue to doubt Steam Survey techniques, among other concerns.
But in any case, previously being at 0.9% and hoping to break the 1.0% threshold soon for Steam Linux games, at this point the numbers are a disappointment for non-Windows gamers.
Think so #Steam Survey for #Linux #gaming market share will crack 1.0% for December?

So, at least since the results of the Steam poll released now, games on the Linux market have returned to 0.57% after seeing a steady increase since the introduction of Steam Play (Proton) to allow many more games on Linux.
