Valentín and Segura did not participate in the interrogations for Odebrecht bribery, accusing them of discomfort

The former administrator of the Dominican Corporation of State Electric Companies (CDEEE), Radhamés Segura, did not appear on Thursday, at the interview he scheduled with the Inspector General of the Public Ministry.

Segura, who was summoned at 3:00 pm to answer questions about the bribery case of the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht, presented through his lawyer Nassir Rodríguez a medical excuse, claiming that he is going through a viral process.

“Magistrate Juan Medina was informed that Radhamés was called there and they will give us another date to appear before the magistrate,” the lawyer explained in a call made by the local press.

The Public Ministry initiated the interrogations of the eight involved in the Odebrecht case, who were favored with the final archiving of the file filed against them.

In addition to Segura, the authorities are expected to interrogate the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco; Rudy González, César Sánchez, Bernardo Castellanos and Máximo de Óleo.

Although his appointment was for last Wednesday, former senator Julio César Valentín also presented a medical apology. The President of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Juan Temístocles Montás, was questioned about the case on December 4, 2020.

The final case in favor of eight of those involved in the Odebrecht case took place one year and three months after the then Attorney General of the Republic, Jean Alain Rodríguez, issued the order for the interim case in favor of the accused.

This case was signed in September 2019 by Narciso Escaño, a court lawyer, claiming that there is not enough evidence to involve eight people involved in this case.

There was an objection signed by Judge José Alejandro Vargas.

These citations are part of the investigations carried out, which seek to clarify whether there were any irregularities in the final decision of the case.
