Suburban hospital to resume vaccinations after 4 workers had side effects

LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. – A northern suburban hospital is taking a temporary break coronavirus vaccinations after four workers reported experiencing side effects.
On Thursday, four members of the team at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville reactions experienced shortly after receipt Vaccination Pfizer COVID-19. Their symptoms include tingling and enlarged heart, the hospital said in a statement.
The hospital also mentioned that the four members of the team represent less than 0.15% of the approximately 3,000 who have received vaccinations so far with the lawyer Aurora Health.
The hospital released a statement on Saturday saying vaccinations will resume on Sunday, December 20th.

Three of the team members are now at home and doing well, the hospital said. An employee receives additional treatment.
“Our on-site vaccination teams remain prepared to respond quickly and appropriately if anyone has any reaction,” the hospital said in a statement. “Out of an abundance of precaution, we have increased the post-vaccine evaluation period to 30 minutes for all people on all our sites, which exceeds the CDC / ACIP recommendations.”

The hospital said the CDC and local health departments agreed with the decision to resume vaccinations.

“We have eight other vaccination sites in Illinois and three in Wisconsin and we continue to do so, as planned, without interruption,” the hospital said, noting that “reactions are an expected side effect of vaccination.”
