Vaccinations against COVID 19 begin in the Vatican

The Vatican State will begin the vaccination campaign against COVID 19 among its employees and residents in the coming days.

According to a press release sent by the Vatican Governorate, “priority will be given to public health and safety personnel, the elderly and staff most frequently in contact with the public.

In other words, vaccination will start by complying with the “criteria for selecting the categories most exposed to contagion”.

The vaccines are expected to arrive at the Vatican “in the second week of January, in sufficient quantity to meet the needs of the Holy See and the Vatican City State.”

In order to preserve the doses, the Vatican administration “purchased an ‘ultra-low temperature’ refrigerator.”

Vaccinations will be performed in the atrium of the Paul VI Hall by qualified medical personnel from the Health and Hygiene Directorate of the Vatican Governorate, “always in accordance with the health recommendations for the pandemic.”
