For the first time since the end of October, the number of Utahns hospitalized for COVID-19 has dropped below 300, a sign that control of the pandemic over health resources could be easier. Utah officials also reported the third day in a row that at least 20,000 doses of the vaccine had been released.

Hospitalizations reported last day • 298. It fell by 14 on Friday and the first day below 300 on 26 October. Of those currently hospitalized, 116 are in intensive care units – 2 fewer than on Friday.
Tests reported the other day • 6,803 people were tested for the first time. A total of 18,233 people were tested on Friday.
Percentage of positive tests • According to the initial method of the state, the rate is 13.9%. This is slightly lower than the seven-day average of 14.4%.
His new method counts all test results, including repeated tests of the same individual. This rate is now at 5.2%, lower than the seven-day average of 6.4%.
