The United States will take steps to resume application of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine in the coming days, possibly with wider restrictions or warnings following reports of some very rare cases of blood clots, the leading disease expert reported Sunday.
In a series of interviews with news programs, Dr. Anthony Fauci said a decision will be made as soon as advisers from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) meet Friday to see if J & J’s single-dose vaccine resumes.
“I would be very surprised if we don’t have a resume in some form on Friday,” he said. “I really don’t expect them to want to extend it a little bit.”
Fauci, who is President Joe Biden’s chief medical advisor, believes federal regulators can resume the use of vaccines with age or gender restrictions or with a general warning, to be applied in a way that is “ a little different than before the break. ”.
