Nvidia has released their first new set of graphics drivers for 2021 and no, they don’t bring big performance increases in hot new games or make another old game look worse with the help of weird raytracing. No, 461.09 drivers focus on unpleasant but important security solutions. Although, if you want to see exactly how high your frame rate is in Windows Mail, these drivers have a disappointing twist for you.
Nvidia’s security bulletin lists the fixed vulnerabilities, with 16 issues rising to 8.4 on the common vulnerability rating system. Read like a 7 to me, wahey.
The new drivers also solve some issues, including the GeForce Experience FPS counter displayed in Windows Calendar and Mail applications. Was it a bug? Dude, I’m not going to spend six million dollars on a 3090 if you don’t tell me how fast it displays FWD: FWD: FWD: emails from my aunt. The Calendar reference point was the basis for signing my 2006 forum.
