It was a tough game for Team Fluff.
The 2021 Puppy Bowl winners have their coveted Lombarky trophy: Team Ruff, the subjects after consecutive victories of Team Fluff opponents, won the 17th annual match of adoptable puppies and dogs.
Seventy can compete in “the cutest game ever played this year,” retained by Dan Schachner’s “Scandal.”
Here is a step-by-step recapitulation of the riveting bang.
Archer Ruff, an American Staffordshire Terrier, started the game in a wild start, with a penalty for “illegal use of goalposts” – snatching the opposing team’s goalpost.
Ruff’s muffin, a mix terrier, marked the team’s first touchdown after a fierce attack by the hearing-impaired Marshall Terrier – who is training to be a support chick for nurses on the front line of the COVID pandemic and was an early competitor for the Most Valuable Pup.
Meanwhile, Chow Chow’s Chunky Monkey mix was penalized for “excessive sleep” after it was postponed. Cute, but without cigars. However, Twitter has gone crazy with the most valuable Mood, served by Chunk himself.
Later, in the first quarter, there was a brutal draw between Muffin and Marshall, while the nervous Nelly Gus from the Fluff team needed a word of “chickens” to put her head in the game. However, Marshall made a disastrous appearance. Very Good Boy Milky Way also added to Fluff’s touchdown number in the first quarter. Paulie, a small mix, barked in the back, winning a touchdown for the Ruff team. Teammate Mix Hashbrown tied the game at 21-21 at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Great Pyrenees mix Duke was deceived by Fluff’s offensive offense, giving Golden Retriever Beliveau the opening for a touchdown, bringing his team 35-21 after another TD in the Sonic terrier-bulldog mix .
Ruff’s Fletcher, a mix of hearing-impaired beagles, scored another jubilant touchdown, with Ruff’s first goal on the field scored by Tank, an adorable Rottweiler / boxer, at the end of the first half. The Fluff team remained the first players, no, thanks to Erica lui Fluff, a border collie mix who chose to manage in a quiet and beautiful corner of the stadium.
The puppies rested during the break show, supported by a very stimulated kitten band, led by DJ Grand Master Scratch on the turntables.
At the beginning of the third quarter, Fluff’s energy balloon, Fozzie, was hit with a penalty for “stabbing the puppy”. But the Norwegian Elkhound mix still seemed in flight – thanks to special care at Harlem’s Doggie Day Spa before the big event. Later, Ruff’s Apollo gave Dwight a clear path to the end zone, giving Ruff a three-point lead. The victory did not last long, when Beliveau from Fluff scored again after a rather aggressive attack in the water tank at the expense of Tank.
In the final quarter, crowd favorite Jett – a two-legged lab with his own wheelchair – made his puppy debut and scored a touchdown for Team Fluff, thanks to the assistance of the Jay lab / terrier mix.
American Staffordshire Terrier / Dutch Shepherd Paulie joined the club with two touchdowns for the Ruff team, but the team could not keep up with the good guys. Beliveau – who seemed a bit big for a puppy – scored the fourth touchdown for Fluff.
Turning the game into a real paw game, Muffin scored another TD for Ruff, bringing the score to 66-69 with less than a minute left in the game.
But the Ruff team gave up a victory for the Ruff team thanks to Big Boss Paulie from New York. After team-to-back victories over Team Fluff in recent years, Team Ruff has made its way to the legend-hood with a final score of 73-69.
Let’s not forget that the game’s MVP – Marshall, our hearing-impaired terrier in Boston – won the acclaimed title. Extra delicacies for Marshall!
The big match was joined by a range of famous animal lovers: it was hosted by best friends Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg, who prepared the table for snacks and drinks – DO-double-G, of course, brought gin and juice.
The first lady, Jill Biden, was joined by German rescue shepherds Champ and Major Biden, who offered a PSA on adopting dogs – and wearing masks. Actress Kristen Bell joined the action, encouraging the Java rescue chick for a day.
But the real winners of the game were the 70 families who brought home champions after the Puppy Bowl – according to Animal Planet, each of the dogs in each Puppy Bowl is adopted until the show airs.
