UEFA opens case for alleged racist insults against Ibrahimovic

The racist insults that Zlatan Ibrahimovic received in the Europa League optimizations against Partizan are already being considered by UEFA, which has opened a case to investigate them.

UEFA opened a case to investigate the racist insults received by the Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Milan striker, in the eighth finals of the Europa League against the Partisan in Belgrade, played last week.

As reported by UEFAPursuant to Article 31 (4) of the UEFA Rules of Procedure, an ethics and discipline inspector has been appointed to investigate these incidents.

Ibrahimovic, of Bosnian roots, was allegedly insulted by a person sitting in the VIP box on the Red Star stadium. The match was played behind closed doors due to covid-19 restrictions and Ibrahimovic, who was not a starter, sat behind the benches along with other substitutes and the staff of the Italian club.

The Red Star apologized to Ibrahimovic after the meeting in a statement in which he assured that he will collaborate with the local authorities to identify the person who uttered the insults.
