SAN DIEGO (CBSLA) – Several vending machines providing COVID-19 tests have been set up at UC San Diego, where students and employees must take regular tests if they come to study, live or work on campus.
The vending machines, which distribute self-test kits, were placed just before the start of UC San Diego’s winter quarter. The cars are also accompanied by a nearby storage basket, where people can place their samples.
The cars are at the following locations on campus:
- Muir College | Roots Restaurant
- Seventh College Near the Parcel Center
- Nuevo East (Porton) | Outdoor sports area
- Price Center First floor opposite Burger King
- Thurgood Marshall College (lower) TMC Residence Life Lobby
- Warren College Opposite the living office of the residence
- Eleanor Roosevelt College Next to the laundry
- The Pepper Canyon Sat | Lodge
- South Mesa | 9126 Laundry
- One Miramar | Near the Parcel Center
- Central Mesa | Next to the laundry – Comes in the winter of 2021
Students who live on the UC property, come regularly to campus or any other property on campus, must perform a daily self-screening and take a free asymptomatic test twice a month. Employees who report to work on campus are also required to self-screen daily and test weekly. . Off-campus students and distance workers are not required to test regularly, but are encouraged to do so as well.
The university has been aggressive in limiting the spread of COVID-19 with its test regimen and a wastewater sensor system that can detect the virus faster than typical tests.
