TWST: The “Spinoff Green Arrow and the Canaries” series has been canceled

Arrow -

This time last year, the fans said goodbye Arrow, DC’s long-running pilot series on the CW. But many of us were excited about it The Green Arrow and the Canaries, a planned spinoff that debuted as a pilot episode of Backdoor in Arrowlast season.

But unfortunately, the CW decided not to pick up the series. “I’m very much in active discussion to see what we can do,” said CW President Mark Pedowitz, as the series could find a second life on HBO Max. “We’ve had a lot of discussions with Warner Bros., we have a strategy involved – we hope we can do that.” However, it seems unlikely, as the distribution contract options expired last year and have not yet been renewed.

The Green Arrow and the Canaries was a women’s-centered spin-off series set in 2040 that follows Oliver Queen’s daughter Mia Queen / Green Arrow (Katherine McNamara) as she teams up with Canaries Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy) and Dinah Drake (Juliana Harkavy). McNamara posted the news on Twitter, saying he was “heartbroken” over the cancellation and thanked fans for their support.

With Super Girl heading for his final season and canaries cancellation, the women’s-led DC series has a hit. But with new series like Wonder Girl on the horizon, there is still hope that the future of the CW superhero pepper. And, of course, there is always HBO Max.
