Two Seattle police officers have been suspended for participating in Wednesday’s assault on the Capitol, which was initiated to prevent the certification of the results of the Nov. 3 presidential election.
“The Department fully supports all of the First Amendment’s legal expressions of free speech, but the violent mob and events that took place in the United States Capitol are illegal and have resulted in the death of a police officer,” the chief complained. “If there are any Departmental agents directly involved in the Capitol uprising, I will end it immediately,” he added.
The investigation started Friday after it became known that two agents were depicted in a photo published on social networks and therefore their participation in these incidents and the extent of it is being investigated.
Thousands of supporters of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, violently stormed the Capitol on Wednesday, Jan. 6 during the process of certifying the results of the US presidential election, in which Trump, who denounces fraud, was defeated by his democratic rival, Joe Biden.
