Two Honduran migrants were shot and injured in Mexico

Two Honduran migrants were shot dead and three others injured when attacked by two people attempting to rob them in Huimanguillo Municipality, Mexican state Tabasco, southeast of the country, local authorities reported Tuesday.

According to information from the municipality’s municipal police, the attack took place at 8:20 AM (1:20 PM GMT), when the five Honduran migrants walked on the train tracks and were surprised by two alleged criminals aboard a motorbike.

“Two men on a motorcycle fired at them and wanted to attack them. They – the Central Americans – ran and stayed on the train tracks. Two died there and three were injured by gunfire,” said Luis Mateo Díaz, municipal police inspector in Huimanguillo. . .

The officer assured that the five Central Americans were bound for Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, to take the train to continue their journey to the United States.

The migrants injured with a firearm are: Eliezer Joaquin Sosa Madariaga, 27, who had a bullet strike in his right arm; Yondi Renan Rojas, 32, with a gunshot wound to the right leg and Gerson Obany Reyes Sánchez, 23, injured in the left rib.

While the two deceased have not yet been identified.
