Two doses of Pfizer “are 99.96% effective”: two weeks of separation prevents almost ALL cases of Covid-19, Israeli research suggests
- Israeli research finds that only 0.04% of those vaccinated with both doses of Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine have developed coronavirus
- Of the 700,000 vaccinated people, only 300 subsequently contracted Covid-19, only 16 requiring hospital treatment, according to preliminary data

Almost all cases of Covid are prevented with two doses of Pfizer vaccine, research suggests.
Data collected in Israel – which leads the world in vaccine launches – found that only 0.04% of those vaccinated with both doses developed coronavirus.
Of the 700,000 people who were vaccinated, only 300 later contracted the virus, with only 16 requiring hospital treatment, according to preliminary data released by Israeli health officials.
The vaccine also protects against the more infectious version of the UK of Covid-19, the research suggests.
Professor Eyal Leshem, an Israeli infectious disease specialist, said the reports were “very good news”. He added: “The initial findings are quite incredible.

“After one dose, the cases decreased substantially and after two, there were only 0.4%.
“Time will tell, we still need to accumulate data, but these are very encouraging preliminary reports.”
More than 30 percent of Israel’s population has received a vaccine, with several studies on its effectiveness.
Professor Leshem added: “On the one hand, we see very high community transmission rates, with 1,000 cases every day – the highest rates we have experienced since the beginning of the outbreak.
But when we look specifically at these hundreds of thousands of Israelis who are vaccinated, they do not become infected.

“And even in those few cases that become infected, she suffers from a mild illness – only one hand has to go to the hospital, only one hand has a severe illness and she has to be hospitalized.
“It’s what we call real life, ecological evidence of the effectiveness of the vaccine – the high effectiveness of the vaccine.”
Most of those vaccinated were over 60, making the results even more remarkable, he added.
Initial studies also found a significant reduction in cases among those who had a vaccine dose.

- Iran will buy the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine through the back door, despite a ban on “unbelievable” British vaccines, a published document revealed. Iran banned vaccines in Britain and the United States on January 8, but in a dramatic change, the nation is said to be buying 36 million doses of Oxford vaccine through India.
