Twitter suspends Bukele-linked youtuber account accused of harassment against two former FMLN candidates

This Sunday, Daniela Genovez and Karina Sosa filed a complaint with the Prosecutor’s Office against Roberto Silva. While the EST will evaluate to remove the accreditation of the journalist with whom he entered the hotel where the final check is performed.

The Twitter account of Roberto Silva, a member of New Ideas and a youtuber who produces government-related material, has been suspended after several complaints to the social network following his comments against two former FMLN candidates.

Through his account, Silva published videos and texts harassing the former FMLN deputy candidate, Daniela Genovez, who was in the hotel in the capital where the final control takes place.

Genovez, who said he was the victim of harassment by the alleged journalist on the state radio station, filed a complaint with the General Prosecutor’s Office (FGR) and the Prosecutor’s Office for Human Rights (PDDH).

“We are afraid that our physical integrity is in danger because we do not know why it is capable,” Genovez told reporters on Sunday as he accompanied MP Karina Sosa, who extended the complaint to the FGR.

Silva is an alleged content creator of the YouTube platform and is close to the ruling party and whose accreditation from the state of Radio El Salvador allowed him to enter the place where the control is carried out.

On Sunday, the TSE will study whether to revoke the press accreditation previously granted to Silva following the complaints of two women members of the FMLN for harassment, violence against women and defamation.

Only persons with TSE-approved accreditations, including journalists, have access to the area where the final control is carried out.

In the last hours, a video with Silva insulting Genovez has been circulating on social networks. Twitter users expressed disgust at Silva’s harassment and misogynistic attitude.

The president of the Association of Journalists of El Salvador (APES), Angélica Cárcamo, also condemned the expressions of violence against women broadcast by youtubers against the two former FMLN candidates.
