Users trying to access the social networking platform Twitter on Friday night saw the ominous message “Something went wrong”. The company’s blog, where interruption explanations are normally posted, was also offline.
The DownDetector tracking site showed more than 50,000 reports of outages in just 15 minutes, shortly after 5 p.m., Pacific Time, the time zone at Twitter in San Francisco, California.
Attempts to access the Twitter blog returned a text error message about “Error connecting upstream or disconnecting / resetting before headers” because “Connection failure”.
The service appeared to be backup for some users starting at 17:27 Pacific. Twitter support wrote on Twitter that they are “We are working to fix a problem and you will return to the timeline soon” about half an hour later.
