Michael Chiesa remained perfect in the welterweight division on Saturday when he defeated Neil Magny in the UFC at the ESPN 20 main event.
Chiesa (18-4 MMA, 11-4 UFC) extended his run in the division to 4-0 when he got a unanimous decision victory over Magny (24-8 MMA, 17-7 UFC) in the head-to-head competition, which took place at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi and broadcast on ESPN2.

The red corner is 11-2 tonight. Neil Magny tried to face the trend. Main event to the touch. -> ESPN

Chiesa probably needs elimination to win, but this was perhaps the most polished I’ve ever seen standing.

Chiesa’s early elimination attempt to start round 2, but Magny keeps her balance and has a hook. # UFCFightIsland8

Magny worked hard to get to her feet and sought an elimination, but Chiesa reached the top. # UFCFightIsland8

Passing well for Chiesa this fight. The man who wins the clinch in this fight will be the winner. That man is @ MikeMav22

Cheisa is a madman fighting. I like it so much.

Magny forces an elimination in round 2 and pays for it by allowing Chiesa to get the top position. Another round for Chiesa. 2-0.

Magny was available at +400 about 30 seconds ago. +169 and decrease.

I can’t believe why these two guys don’t use judo techniques. They’re both all boys. So much judo I can do @ufc

This is another reason why his aggressive elbows would have served him well: Chiesa managed to consistently stop Magny in the first two rounds, but his inability to subdue him makes this time spent at the top be lost if Magny is still the freshest man – as Chiesa gets on top as I write

Magny’s decisions in this fight cost him. He should have won another round 3, but he refuses to hit the less experienced Chiesa striker. 🤷🏻♂️

Michael Chiesa has never lost a game in which he scored 3 or more eliminations, a threshold he has now crossed.

I’m glad to receive some samples at Chiesa in the championship rounds, but he wants to close the show on the back mountain …

Too often fighters are overwhelmed with the “mixed” in the mixed martial arts and get lost in trying to do everything. Michael Chiesa knows exactly who he is and what he does. His path is clear. It can be limiting, but it can also give purpose to each action.

Chiesa is tired, but the ground reaches a state of flow

This main event really shows how skilled the upper echelon fighters are compared to some of the greenest fighters on the list I’ve seen in some of the previous fights.

Michael Chiesa sets up a clinic against an exit as tough as the wine, Neil Magny. A win here would be 4 in a row for Chiesa. Another round …
