Twitter permanently bans the CEO of My Pillow

Twitter has permanently banned the account of Mike Lindell, CEO of My Pillow, after perpetuating the baseless claim that Donald Trump won the 2020 US presidential election.

Twitter decided to ban Lindell, who founded the bedding company My Pillow, for “repeated violations” of its civil integrity policy, a spokesman said in a statement. The policy was implemented last September and is aimed at combating disinformation.

It was not immediately clear which of Lindell’s posts on Twitter led to the suspension of his account.

Lindell, a Trump supporter, has insisted that the presidential election was faked, even after US President Joe Biden’s administration began.

Major retailers such as Bed Bath & Beyond and Kohl’s have said they would stop offering My Pillow products, Lindell said earlier.

Lindell is also facing potential lawsuits from Dominion Voting Systems for alleging that their voting machines played a role in alleged election fraud. He had also urged Trump to declare martial law in Minnesota to obtain his ballots and reverse the election.

After storming the Capitol earlier this month, Twitter banned more than 70,000 accounts for sharing misinformation. Trump, who had instigated the mob, has also permanently suspended his account.
