Get ready for Twitter to start looking much clearer – starting today, the company allows all users to send (and view) 4K images on iOS and Android.
The Twitter web app already supports higher-resolution images (up to 4096 x 4096 resolution), but mobile apps have been limited to only half, with a maximum resolution of 2048 x 2048. The company had previously begun testing the 4K image upload option for mobile users earlier this year and it looks like these tests have worked well as the feature is now launched for all users starting today.
It’s time to send these high-resolution images – the option to upload and view 4K images on Android and iOS is now available to everyone.

To enable the new feature, users will need to access the “data usage” section of the settings menu in the Twitter app and enable both “high-quality images” (for viewing 4K images) and “high-quality image uploads.” ”(To send them on Twitter). Users can select whether they want higher-resolution images to be enabled for both mobile and Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi only, or completely disabled – options similar to how Twitter handles higher-resolution or automatic video playback.
