Twitter is reacting to Rockets debutant KJ Martin, who is blocking Rudy Gobert on board

Although he is only 6 feet-6, Houston Rockets rookie KJ Martin is quickly becoming known for his inside defense and his shot-blocking presence.

In January, the young Houston athlete rejected downtown Dallas Boban Marjanović – who is 7 feet 4 inches tall – right on the sidelines. On Friday, he did the same with 7-foot-2 Rudy Gobert, an Utah Jazz All-Star. Accordingly, Twitter users went crazy when he withdrew. See below a compilation of the best reactions on social networks.

Martin is the son of Kenyon Martin, a 15-year NBA veteran and No. 1 overall in the 2000 draft. As such, young Martin is still learning professionally. However, like his 20-year-old colleague Kevin Porter Jr., his development gives Rocket fans struggling something to watch for what otherwise feels like a lost season. Houston (11-24) came in Friday with 14 straight losses, which is their longest skid since 2000.

In recent weeks, Martin has averaged 17.5 points, 11.4 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 31.5 minutes per game during a G-League internship with Houston affiliate Rio Grande Valley Vipers. With hopes of the parent team’s playoffs becoming extremely distant, its development should become a clear priority as the 2020-21 season progresses.
