At begining of the week, Twitch has eliminated its extremely popular Pogchamp emote, which is used to express enthusiasm in chat, in the face of the emotive, Ryan “Gootecks” Gutierrez, encouraged additional “civil unrest” after the insurrection at the Capitol Building. Now, just two days later, he has replaced Gutierrez’s resemblance with an elaborate plan that is honestyes, pretty poggers.
Today on Twitter, Twitch announced how he will solve the Pogchamp emotion from now on.
“You know what? In the spirit of discovering 2021 together, let’s go with it for now!” The company wrote. “Get ready for a new Pogchamp every 24 hours, starting today.”
Today’s Pogchamp is fighting game expert Kenny “UnRoolie” McWild, who he had previously thrown his hat into the ring to be the de facto replacement for Pogchamp. It could be anyone tomorrow, but I think it will probably be someone else who has already volunteered on Twitter.
Pogchamp’s rotating idea was initially suggested of the long-standing personality of Sean “Day9” Plott games not long after Twitch removed the original Pogchamp emoticon.

It’s not hard to see why Twitch liked the idea: if he selected a single person to be Pogchamp’s new face, that streamer would almost certainly face harassment and other forms of unwanted attention. In this way, Sauron’s Eye of Dickheads’ harassment must at least take a look around instead of concentrating his anger in one place. However, this will not necessarily prevent people from following the streamer of the day and will open up new possibilities, such as Twitch, which provides the spotlight of a streamer that turns out to have a problematic history. However, this is new territory, so it is not known how it will actually become. Maybe that’s the most important part of it all.
