This week, the United Airlines flight school, United Aviate Academy, has announced that it is now accepting applications and that it intends to train 5,000 new pilots in the next decade and that 50% of these pilots will be women and men of color. For reasonable people, it seems that United is trying to diversify the aviation industry and provide more opportunities for disadvantaged communities, but to conservative experts like Tucker Carlson and Tucker Carlson of Great Britain, Piers Morgan, this is a plot that will lead to the downfall of the sky during a kidnapping of affirmative action because, apparently, only white men are qualified to be pilots.

That is, our lives depend on meritocracy. “
Carlson called the United initiative “a combination of a hyper-aggressive human resources department and a left-wing political action committee … big in terms of moral statements and compulsory social engineering.”

The “colorblind meritocracy” literally never existed in America. But mediocre white men will never recognize that mediocre white men have by far the greatest power in the Western world, and this is why they dominate the workforce in almost every industry – not because they happen to be more capable than women and men of color.

Training to learn to fly a plane will not change because a black person or woman takes it and there is no reason to believe that men who are not white will be given permission to fly airplanes without displaying knowledge and the skills needed to complete the training mentioned. But Carlson – the guy who is he does not believe that women belong to the military, as if thousands of women serving in the military probably wouldn’t beat their damn ass – don’t think so because, well, he’s a racist and misogynist idiot.

In a statement posted on Twitter, United announced: “All highly qualified candidates we accept in the academy, regardless of race or gender, will have met or exceeded the standards set for admission.”
However, Carlson said the company is lying.
“We know I’m lying and you know that,” he said, “because in the field of airlines there’s only one standard that matters and it’s not race and it’s not gender. It’s competence. ”
Carlson is not the only fragile white man who ignores the fact that the historical lack of diversity initiatives in the corporate world is the only reason why white men believe they are the face of meritocracy. Morgan – the guy who he rushed out of a set like a puppy, after being called because he used his platform to provide great energy to Meghan Markle –wrote an op-ed song in response to the United ad entitled “What’s next for the warriors who woke up the corporation – the blind pilots?”
First of all: one of these days, I will write a play about how the right-wing narrative that diversity is part of a progressive trend of “awakening” is basically recognizing that conservatism is synonymous with white. But for now, let’s just focus on the fact that Morgan has suggested that allowing non-white men to fly planes is like letting a blind man fly.
Morgan wrote that when it comes to his flight concerns, “I certainly don’t care about the sex or skin color of a pilot,” because he clearly doesn’t realize THAT THIS COOL IS NOT ABOUT YOU, MAN WHITE – is about creating opportunities for women and people of color to get jobs in a white field dominated by men.
Morgan even went so far as to falsify a false double standard and ask why no one is looking to diversify the male-dominated NBA. (Yes, the British Bill O’Reilly really went there.)
The truth is that Carlson, Morgan and any other conservative snowflake that gathers its only white pearls at the mere mention of the word “diversity” are as fragile as they are racist and sexist.
The world is changing around them and claims that the corporate world reflects the diversity of the population, and now everything that comes out of their mouths is a variant of: “Will no one think of white men?”
It’s pathetic, but what else can you expect from people who don’t seem to understand that diversity and meritocracy are not mutually exclusive.
