Trump says he will ease travel restrictions for the Coronavirus in the UK, Europe, Brazil, Biden says no

President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he would relax restrictions on travel to and from the United Kingdom, much of Europe and Brazil to slow the spread of the coronavirus – six days after his departure. Trump planned the change, which would end a ban on non-US citizens entering the country from the UK, Brazil and Europe, to go into effect on January 26, but the administration of President-elect Joe Biden said it was would not lift the restrictions. “As the pandemic worsens and more contagious variants emerge worldwide, now is not the time to lift restrictions on international travel,” said Biden press secretary Jen Psaki tweeted. “… We even plan to strengthen public health policies around international travel to further limit the spread of COVID-19.” A new travel regulation will go into effect Jan. 26 and will require incoming passengers to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test before flight, ordered by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
