Trump resigns from Screen Actors Guild because the union is considering disciplinary action

The Screen Actors Guild held a disciplinary meeting to consider revoking former President Trump’s membership, but before SAG could make any announcements, Mr. Trump announced that he was breaking up with them first. Mr. Trump sent a resignation letter to the president of the organization, Gabrielle Carteris, in which he wrote, “I no longer wish to be associated with your union.”

‘I am writing to you today about the hearing of the so-called disciplinary committee aimed at revoking my union membership. What does it matter!’ wrote the former commander in chief. “Although I am not familiar with your work, I am very proud of my work on films like ‘Home Alone 2’, ‘Zoolander’ and ‘Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps’; and television shows including’ The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air , “Saturday Night Live” and of course one of the most successful shows in television history, “The Apprentice” – just to name a few! ”

The SAG-AFTRA National Board voted by an overwhelming majority in late January to find the likely cause of Mr. Trump’s violation of the organization’s constitution, citing Mr. Trump’s role in the Attack of January 6 on the Capitol and his threats against journalists.

After claiming that he has “helped the cable news business immensely,” snapping photos at MSNBC and CNN, and claiming that SAG is trying to distract from its dismal track record as a union, the ex-president of the real estate mogul said he was done with SAG. “You haven’t done anything for me,” Mr. Trump wrote.

In response, SAG issued a two-word statement: “Thank you.”

In addition to actors, SAG-AFTRA also represents journalists across the country, and the organization claimed that reports of harassment and physical abuse had “escalated” during Mr Trump’s presidency.

According to his financial information, Mr. Trump has received a pension from SAG.
