In his recommendations, Trump cast lawmakers as ardent advocates of a range of conservative values, praising their positions on immigration, gun rights and more.
Trump said McMaster is “strong in the military, our vets, crime and the Second Amendment” and that Crapo “will remain a champion for our Second Amendment and the great outdoorsmen of Idaho and the US.” The former president added that Griffin will “stand shoulder to shoulder with the brave men and women of law enforcement.”
The many approvals underscore Trump’s increasing involvement in races across the country heading into the midterms of 2022.
Trump appears to be profiling himself as a GOP kingmaker, and his support remains a huge benefit to Republicans operating in ruby states like South Carolina, Idaho and Arkansas.
The former president has so far largely supported incumbents in their reelection bids, although he has informed incumbent lawmakers that he is willing to back primary challengers to fire those he deems insufficiently loyal.
