Trump allies say goodbye with excessive flattery

Donald Trump’s presidency ends as it began, with exaggerated praise from those close to them despite the country’s unprecedented crisis.

The compliments are mixed with a certain farewell flavor this time, as many of his loved ones finally acknowledge that Trump has lost the election and that Democrat Joe Biden will become the new president.

Trump, meanwhile, has refrained from making public appearances. He continues to falsely denounce that there was electoral fraud and that he was the one who really won the election, and he barely mentions the coronavirus pandemic.

This week, even after the electoral college made the election results in favor of the Biden official, Trump still did not appear in public and spent time chatting on the phone and watching television in the White House.

His closest associates are beginning to see that the end has come, although they do so by throwing verbal flowers at the outgoing president.

For example, Attorney General William Barr resigned Monday, but did so by stating in a letter to Trump that “his legacy is very historic because he achieved it despite relentless resistance.” Trump quickly tweeted the letter, accompanied by words of praise for Barr.

Senate majority leader Mitch McConnell, meanwhile, finally acknowledged that Biden won the election, but he did it bluntly by admitting that “the electoral college has spoken” and noting that “many of us expected a different outcome for this presidential election. He mentioned Biden for a moment.

In the six weeks since Biden defeated Trump, the outgoing president has resigned. The virus has killed 300,000 Americans and an average of more than 3,000 a day, but Trump rarely talks about it.
