Stealing his belongings was not the only surprise Deion Sanders received during his coaching debut at Jackson State. But the other one was much more welcome.
Former Cowboys teammate Troy Aikman came to Mississippi to support Sanders, while his former teammate won 53-0 over Edward Waters College.
“My man @troyaikman showed up at Veterans Memorial Stadium today to watch some @gojsutigersfb and brought tears to his eyes that he will come to support me and my dream after a difficult week regarding the weather in Texas and Mississippi. #TheeiloveJsu, ”Sanders wrote on Instagram, along with a photo of the two on the field.
Sanders’ post-game press conference included a frustrated disgust.
“I’m upset right now,” Sanders said. “While the game was going on, someone came in and stole all the damn things I had [the coach’s office]. ”
There was some confusion, as the school quickly published a statement claiming that the articles were “out of place”, which Sanders denied on Twitter.
Sanders and Aikman were teammates at the Cowboys from 1995 to 1999. Aikman, Fox’s best football analyst. he recently expressed interest in becoming NFL general manager.
Sanders has drawn a lot of attention since taking over the FCS program in Mississippi, including landing several significant recruits and holding a lavish introductory press conference.
