Trevor Rosenthal signs with Athletics after the Mets flaunt

Trevor Rosenthal will not be performing at Port St. Lucie for spring training.

The best free agent left in the free agent market, who had been connected to the Mets, will instead join the athletics bullpen in a one-year transaction worth $ 11 million, according to several reports.

Rosenthal, who split last season between the Royals and Padres, is likely to replace Liam Hendriks as A closer than boosting the Mets bullpen. The Mets recently stayed in touch with Rosenthal, Mike Puma of The Post reported on Monday, in light of the fact that Seth Lugo underwent surgery and the club missed Justin Wilson.

Rosenthal, 30, who was closest to the Cardinals before undergoing surgery on Tommy John in 2017, recorded an era of 1.90 with 11 saves last season.

Starting with spring training, the Mets added right-back Trevor May to their $ 15.5 million two-year contract and left-hander Aaron Loup to a $ 3 million one-year deal. They also added RHP Tommy Hunter and LHP Mike Montgomery to minor league transactions.
