Left agent Trent Williams’ free approach is expected to test the market, rather than re-sign with the 49-year-old, before the NFL’s legal negotiation window opens on March 15th. Cris Collinsworth’s podcast with Richard Sherman bending over to stay in the Bay Area.
He did not announce his return, but his response when Sherman made a prediction for Williams’ imminent free agency gave some hope that the left-wing attack would return to San Francisco.
“I have San Francisco,” Sherman said. “I made him stay in San Francisco for the faithful. I think he stays in San Francisco. I think it makes you happy for another 5-6 years, he takes his gold jacket and then decides if he wants it in Washington or San Francisco. ”
Williams’ response after hosts George Chahrouri and Sherman predicted Williams would return to the 49ers:
“It’s not a bad idea, boys. This is not a bad thing. You all leave the right tree. ”
The 49ers bought Williams from Washington last year for a fifth-round draft pick in the 2020 round and a third-round pick in the 2021 draft. but he also said he would explore the market to find out what it was worth in what could be the last big payday of his 32-year career.
Williams should not make declarative statements in one way or another with free agency negotiations right around the corner, and a comment on a podcast is far from a binding commitment. The answer has so far been good news for the 49-year-old. You may only have to wait until the free agency starts unofficially on March 15 to get a real answer about Williams’ future.
