It’s been quite a while since rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy and the young motorcycle enthusiast Claire Redfield first met in zombies-filled Raccoon City during 1998 Resident Evil 2. Now, the dynamic duo is reuniting in the future of Netflix Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness CG series to deal with a new outbreak of monsters …at the White House?

Yes, the White House, because now Special Agent Leon is hilariously investigating a hacking incident for some reason, and Claire is requesting an unspecified “welfare unit.” Also, somehow a child’s drawing of monsters is extremely important for some reason. Oh, and it’s 2006, reaching two years after the events of Resident Evil 4. Look, just watch the hell out of yourself:

The official synopsis of Netflix adds a little extra light to the wild events of Infinite darkness: “In 2006, traces of inadequate access to secret presidential files found in the White House’s computer network were found. US Federal Agent Leon S. Kennedy is among the group invited to the White House to investigate the incident, but when the lights suddenly go out, Leon and the SWAT team are forced to bring down a horde of mysterious zombies. Meanwhile, TerraSave staff member Claire Redfield encounters a mysterious image drawn by a young boy in a country he has visited, while providing support to refugees. Haunted by this drawing, which appears to be the victim of a viral infection, Claire begins her own investigation.

“The next morning, Claire visits the White House to request the construction of a social facility. There he has a chance to meet Leon again and takes the opportunity to show him the boy’s drawing. Leon seems to make some sort of connection between the White House zombie outbreak and the strange drawing, but Claire tells him there’s no relationship and leaves. In time, these two outbreaks of zombies in distant lands lead to events that shake the nation to its core.

I don’t know why he tickles me so much. It only channels the ridiculousness of the classic resident Evil games that managed to be both ridiculous and scary, and that’s exactly what I want from resident Evil TV series. Well, that’s a family sitcom starring Resident Evil: VillageS Lady Dimitrescu and her crazy, murderous daughters, but maybe there’s room for that in between other Netflix show about Wesker’s children, and the future restart of the film.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness will premiere on Netflix in July. Nick Apostolides and Stephanie Panisello, who recently voiced Leon and Claire Resident Evil 2 redo, return to their roles, with Assassination classDirected by Eiichiro Hasumi.
