Toro recalls snow blowers because of the danger of amputation

The Toro company recalls about 6,700 snow blowers to repair a problem that poses a danger of amputation. Withdrawal of the defective product comes with much of the country covered in snow, including states such as Texas and Georgia that do not usually see winter weather conditions that plow and shovel out.

The Bloomington, Minnesota-based company has received five reports of incidents in which its Toro Max Snowthrower snail failed to disconnect when the control lever is released, according to a notice released by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

No injuries were reported.
