Tom Holland’s appeal to all is quite indisputable; it’s a big part of what made the British actor turn so convincingly on Marvel’s most unfortunate hero, Peter Parker. Now we can add another data point to “He’s just like ordinary people!” credentials: revealing that he found out he was cast as Spider-Man just like the rest of us: Reading a blog post on Marvel.com

This comes from a recent interview The Netherlands did it together with their colleague, MCU alum, Daniel Kaluuya (currently playing in the future Judas and the black Messiah) as part of varietyInterview series Actors On Actors. In the midst of talking about his golf game and his habits of watching Kaluuya’s film, Holland revealed how unlikely he found out that he got the role he had spent the last year of his life auditioning, that is, watching Marvel. posting about it on Instagram and then clicking on a blog facing it.

Given the life-changing role, it’s hard to blame Holland for what she did next: Lift the computer off the bed, scare the dog, and then he ran to tell his family – including his brother, who called everything so unlikely to have assumed he was part of the Sony hacking scandal. But no: Marvel really told the whole world before they told Holland, probably because you can only take Mark Ruffalo great movie secrets so many times.

You can view the rest of the interview, which also sees the Netherlands and Kaluuya reflecting Cherry, Fred Hampton, Ryan Coogler and more, over at variety.
