A lot of people started playing Loop Hero. How do I know that? Hit 50,000 simultaneous users on Steam in weekend. I was one of them. Now I’ve put in over 25 hours in the deck construction deck and I have some tips for everyone else just starting to use it.
At its basic level, Loop Hero he plays alone. Your warrior walks around a circle automatically fighting hordes of mud and vampires. Over time, they become stronger, and if they become strong enough, they will survive to summon the boss, beat them, and move on to the next chapter. Of course, the devil is in the details of everything you can do besides this simple claim, including modernizing equipment, building settlements, and choosing how to play the cards you collect during each expedition. Here are some useful tips I have developed based on my own browsing experience in this complex glove.
Prioritize certain statistics for each class.
The knight is heavy and strikes slowly. Rogue is more vulnerable, but carries two weapons. The necromancer summons skeletons to fight alongside them. Each requires a different strategy. We found that focusing on these special statistics for each class led more to greater success and longer life:
- Knight: Regen / Vampirism
- Snape: Evasion / Crit Chance
- Necromancer: HP Magic / Extra Skeletons
Survival is the name of the game, which means balancing how fast you can kill enemies with how fast you heal. Regen is cute because it works even when you’re not in battle, while Magic HP is how much damage the Necromancer can absorb each battle before being wounded.
High-level tools are not always better.
All equipment introduced Loop Hero it has a level and one of the four rarities: common, blue, yellow and orange. The higher the rarity, the more bonus stats are offered. However, simply increasing the numbers is not enough. You may get a piece of armor that is two levels above the current one, but it is the lowest rarity and therefore does not come with any bonus. In this case, something like 10% vampirism is better than another 100 hp.
G / O Media may receive a commission
The reverse can also be true, depending on the situation. In one expedition we obtained a common ring of higher level with a regeneration statistic of 4.5. I quickly changed it for single-digit buffs from my existing orange rarity ring. In addition, all the armor you don’t use eventually breaks down into resources, so think about waiting instead of constantly switching to new equipment with only marginally better stats.
Don’t just place the land willingly or unwillingly.
The mountain cards give you more HP and a total of 120 hp extra when arranged in a 3X3 network. Meadows gives you an extra resource when placed next to a mountain or set of rocks, making it more advantageous to mix them rather than place them separately on the map. The bonus effects of rivers are doubled when they touch another terrain in two places, so make sure you arrange them in a zigzag pattern rather than in straight lines.
It’s okay not to play every card.
Like additional equipment, books you do not use will be divided into additional resources that can be used to extend and update the settlement. So you don’t feel like you have to play everything that spins in your hand, especially if you’re on an expedition to simply soften resources. In addition, the key to success in Loop Hero balances the need to grow enemies for better resources and equipment with being able to effectively survive to the end of the game. A couple of vampires is good. He is not lying with them.
You know when to fold them.
If you don’t think you’ll survive another loop, retreat to your village as you pass. You will be able to save everything you collected for that expedition. There is a significant amount of grinding Loop Hero, which means you’ll probably make a few expeditions to the farm for some resources to get key upgrades and unlock important books without ever intending to take the chapter head. Better to restart an expedition sooner than to lose much of your transportation in a premature death. If the push comes to push, you can also withdraw for a lesser penalty from any other square on the map when you are not in combat.
The telltale signs that you should retreat are when the loop has multiple squares with large groups or enemies on them and if you haven’t gotten good equipment upgrades in a while. Enemies get heavier with each completed loop and if RNG, which Loop Hero has a lot of, just does not go your way, it is better to give up while you are ahead.
Upgrade to the smelter.
Your placement in Loop Hero it is essentially your skill tree. Improvements will continue over expeditions and will often be the determining factor in whether you survive or not. Try to unlock the Melter as early as possible and then upgrade it to get the arsenal. When placed, it allows you to equip additional equipment in a new slot that will give you another chance to increase the most important class statistics.
Unlock the clock towers.
Watchtowers last a little longer, but are also very useful for agricultural resources. They offer archers in your settlement, who can attack enemies in the surrounding squares, depending on how modernized they are. This encourages you to play as many monster cards as possible as close to your settlement as possible to take over most of the toughest battles of your reserve loop..
Get the Blade of Dawn feature.
Each time your character’s level rises in a loop, they must select one of three new features to help them during the expedition. The Knight has a lot of good choices, but Blade of Dawn never disappointed me. Your first attack of each new day is overloaded, causing double damage to all enemies in a meeting. The days go by quickly out of battle, and if you place enemy buildings easily and intelligently, you can start almost every big battle this way.
For Rogue I always go with the Forest Child companion, which has a 75% chance to give birth to a companion wolf in every fight, and for Necromancer I really like Unseen Care, which gives you a permanent Magic HP bonus for each skeleton invoked. Normally, I try to go with any feature that will trigger often or offer a lasting benefit that fits nicely as the loop gets heavier.
Use a Storm Temple to burn a forest.
Loop Hero it is full of mysterious synergies between different buildings and types of land. One of these is the Burnt Forest, which you get when you place a Storm Temple and hit a forest or a lightning forest. The burned forest deals additional magical damage, which ignores the defense of enemies. Another good combination is the Hunger Boss, created when you place two blood plantations next to a regular plantation. He will occasionally attack you when you fight enemies next to him, but he will instantly kill any enemy that drops below 20% health, helping you eliminate large groups much faster.
Experiment with different combinations.
Different books produce different effects and allow you to collect different resources. If you always play the same class by making similar loop settings, you won’t get the full range of resources needed to quickly expand your settlement, which is the real point of 90% of the expeditions you make. Play with different types of terrain, enemy buildings and placements on the map to see what happens.
Similarly, different classes are more suitable for different types of loops. The necromancer will do better against larger bullets, while Rogue can deal massive critical hits that knock down enemy enemies (those who appear after visiting villages) much faster.
Use Oblivion to destroy enemy camps.
I’ve died for goblins more times than I can count. They strike hard and fast and often appear in groups of three or four. The Oblivion card allows you to destroy any square on the map, not just the things you have built. You can use it to wipe out a lot of elves or, better yet, to destroy the camp that gave birth to them. The same goes for bandit camps and other enemy sites that automatically appear as you progress.
Additional credit: You can also use an Oblivion card to destroy the last mountain or rock formation in a 3X3 mountain range. Then you can replace the mountain or rock to trigger the formation again and get additional bonus resources. You can rinse and repeat as many times as you want.
