Tinsley Mortimer’s friends are incandescent with anger after her fiancé Scott Kluth abandoned her after forcing her to choose between him and her TV show.
Insiders say that the founder of Coupon Cabin claimed that she did not like the media attention that came with her job at “The Real Housewives of New York” – and he gave her an ultimatum at the end of 2019 saying that if she gave up at the show, he will marry her.
Mortimer agreed and moved to his hometown of Chicago – only, we are told, for Kluth to accidentally dump her last week for no reason.
“She was tortured. For years he broke up with her and came back with her and broke up with her again “, said one of Mortimer’s friends. “But when he proposed, she thought she meant it. He left his career, he left his livelihood, he left home and suddenly he went back to his old tricks and gave up his engagement. ”
The friend added: “She is afraid of commitment. She never had in him to fulfill his promise to marry her. And she used her celebrity to promote her coupon company. ”
We are told that Kluth gave up the social star turned into reality after a fight last Friday.
Meanwhile, the insider said he sent a statement to People magazine, giving Mortimer just a notification that the celebrity weekly should have announced their split.
“So the guy who hates the press runs to People magazine,” the friend sniffed.
Kluth said in a statement: “After 14 months of engagement, Tinsley and I have ended our relationship and we have been living independently for the last few months.”
The insider told us, “She didn’t want that.” They also said that the idea that they had lived separately is misleading, because they had both traveled a lot of that time. They said Mortimer was “blinded” by the sudden split.
We are told that Mortimer’s “head is still spinning” and he still doesn’t know if he will move back to New York.
A spokesman for Kluth said in a statement: “It is disappointing that in this emotional time for both of them, Tinsley is wrong to characterize the circumstances of their break-up, which happened a few months ago. As Scott has already said, he wants nothing more than good for Tinsley and is trying to recover emotionally and move on. ”
In November 2019, Kluth proposed an elaborate show involving drones and a choir. They put their wedding plans on hold because of the pandemic.
She was previously married to Topper Mortimer from 2002 to 2010.
