Tim Cook announces Wednesday’s announcement and claims responsibility for the siege of the Chapter

Apple CEO Tim Cook teased an announcement on Wednesday and said everyone involved in the January 6 siege of the US Capitol should be “held accountable.”

Apple CEO sat down with “CBS This morning, host Gayle King will talk about an unspecified announcement of the company scheduled for January 13. However, during the scheduled interview, King asked Cook about the Capitol assault.

“I think it’s essential that people be held accountable for that,” Cook said. “This is not something that should skate. It is something we need to be very serious about and understand. And then we need to move on.”

When asked if President Donald Trump should be held accountable for his role in inciting the uprising, Cook did not name the president by name, but said everyone involved should be held accountable.

“I don’t think anyone is above the law. I mean, that’s a great thing in our country and we’re a country with the rule of law,” Cook said. “I think everyone who participated in it should be held accountable.”

Following the attack on Capitol Hill, Apple has taken steps to remove the conservative Parler social networking platform from the App Store due to its failure to moderate content that could have incited violence.

Comments about the siege of the Chapter and President Trump were just small snippets of a longer interview that “CBS “This Morning” will be released on Wednesday. The previously scheduled interview was arranged for a different purpose, King said. Cook agreed to comment on the situation on Capitol Hill.

It is unclear what the interview will be about, although King said it was a significant announcement from the company. She said it was not a new product, but “something bigger and better”, which is “very interesting”. Tuesday’s clip contained some clues about the announcement, although the interview itself was done remotely with King at an Apple Store and Cook talking at Apple Park in Cupertino.

As for the pending announcements, Apple has not yet released the transparency feature of the application tracking that it promised to arrive in early 2021. The fact that the announcement takes place in the middle of CES 2021 can be noted, because Apple has committed to promoting privacy policies during the past annual technology presentation.
